Encina Azul
Lyrics/Letra:
In front of the blue encina
¿De donde han salido?
Bailando con angeles
Underneath the luna llena
Underneath the luna llena
¿De donde han salido?
Hablando con estrellas
In front of the blue encina
Da me tu mano
Totalmente en contacto
Take your time in the no-time
Take your timeless time
The story behind the song:
It´s springtime in
Extremadura. It's the night before the 17th of April; my
birthday, resurrection day, and on top of that the full moon is
lighting up the sky. The promise of a magical night is filling the
air.
We are on a festival at 'El Chozo', an ecological
and social project, situated in the mountains close to Salvaleon. I
met Antonio - the creator of the project - a few months before at
the carnival party in Badajoz. He asked if we could play a concert at
the festival, and we gladly accepted.
The place and the
people were radiating authenticity, love, light, freedom. I couldn't
be more gratefull to be part of it and celebrate this special night
in this wonderful atmosphere, in the middle of the nature.
During the concert; a beautiful 'Encina' was lit up behind us.
The blue light on the Extremenian Oak tree was creating a magical scenery.
Encina Azul, the name of the song, means Blue Oak Tree.
Here's a little video of the concert ->
The night I met Antonio, I went out by myself to enjoy the carnival of Badajoz.
I
just finished reading the book 'Synchrodestiny' by Deepak Chopra, and I
decided to put the theory into practice. With the intention of
making a new friend, I decided to peacefully let myself be guided
through the city.
At one point, Antonio came up to me, telling me I
was invited to visit his project. He seemed to be sure I would feel at
home there, and when I finally visited - on the night of the festival -
his intuition appeared to be a perfect hit.
In the end, I didn't make just one friend; but even better, I made many of them.
¿De
donde han salido? (Where did they come from?) was the question some
people were asking to Antonio; and it was the question that originated
from my own feeling of being amazed to be making so many new friends in
just one night.
Here's a picture of Antonio, at 'El Chozo' ->
'Da me tu mano' means 'Give me your hand'. It refers to a song that I know from the Portugues band 'Terra Livre', which is called 'Dá-me a tua mão' and is composed by Gonçalo Sarmento.
That
night at 'El Chozo', we were jamming at the campfire untill the early
morning. 'Dá-me a tua mão' is one of the songs I started playing, and in
my enthusiasm about the amazing lyrics of this song, I started looking
for translations.
'Da me tu mano' is the translation in Spanish; and
became part of the lyrics of this song.
This song is inspired on events during the night of the full moon,
recorded a few weeks later on the first day of the new moon, and was
released on the next full moon.
